The Daily Kos has this to report about a possible anti-incumbent wave in 2006.
Stat of the Week
Hotline: "GOPers "have a vested interest in" Bush's "job approval ratings, as their jobs could be in jeopardy if his numbers don't climb back to near" 50% by 11/06. "From" '62 to '02, the pres.'s "party lost an average of 43 House seats in an off-year election whenever his approval rating dipped below" 50%."
Daily Kos has another great snippet at the same link above, on questions voters should be asking when considering what challenger to support if the incumbent must be booted, entitled: Newsie's Questions to Ask When Getting to Know Lesser Known Candidates.

David,
If Bush has to climb back up to 50% I think the Republican incumbents are going to have a hard time of it in 2006, which is good news for us!

I just hope that if the Republicans do loose seats in 06 that the Democrats don't pick them up. If they do, all they'd do is say they were right, the people don't like the President, and it'll just be business as usual.
The best thing that can happen is of independents or third parties to get seats from both mainstream parties.
There are 435 congressional seats and around 33-34 Senate seats up for reelection. If 1/2 those seats, or even just a 1/4 of them, goes to third party or independents just think of the shock waves that would go through Washington.
It just might be enough to get the attention of the rest of Congress.

Ron, I too would like to see many more 3rd party candidates take advantage of this upcoming anti-incumbent mood. David W. and I are going to be contacting the 3rd parties shortly, (David W has already begun). We want to look for ways to introduce VOID awareness in areas where they have a candidate in the ring.
If we can play a part in bringing a challenger from a 3rd party into office, it would do wonders for our credibility and all that follows it.

David,
I'm tring to spread the word about VIOD myself.
I've started putting VOIDs link on my post on watchblog when I get the felling it's appropriate.
I've also made some cards on my computer that if its ok with yaall I'll start giving people that I talk to.
The card simply says
Tired of business as usual in Washington?
Tired of the same old canidates telling the same old lies?
Check this out.
voidnow.org.
If this is not to your approval let e know and I won't give them out. If you can think of changes that might help let me know.
I sure don't want to do anything that will hurt the movement in any way.

That's great, Ron. Thanks very much. Great idea for the rest of us, too! Print out a dozen or so flyers to carry with us and hand out.
Thanks, Ron!!!!
