The United States' negative trade balance with other countries reached over $60 billion in September, 2005 alone. The personal savings rate in the United States is negative. What is happening is the American consumer is purchasing a lot more than he/she is producing. This is not sustainable. As the US trade deficits accumulate over time, naturally the country will lose its credit standing with its foreign lenders; two of the largest purchasers of our Treasury securities are Japan and China. This comfortable convenience cannot be sustained.
Free trade only works when the trading partner countries enjoy a more balanced activity. Our representatives in Washington are not addressing the negative pattern we have experienced for so long; and the longer it continues, the more capital assets are lost from America.
Join VOID, and let's return more responsible and accountable public servants to our government. By replacing the corrupt politicians with their viable challengers in election year 2006 and beyond, we can take on the business of our nation's trade imbalance and our other pressing problems in earnest.

American consumer dollars are flowing overseas to rich foreigners via the trade deficits, and our Congress is borrowing that same money back from them at a couple billion a month interest on the national debt.
My daughter's taxes are going to make today's taxes look like "The Good Ole Days!"

One of the reason for the trade imbalance is that while countries like Japan and Korea keep sending their products over here, they won't let American goods into their country. If they do let them in, the tariff is so high that their citizens either cann't afford them or just won't buy them.
Meanehile our leaders won't even try to do anything about this. They sit back with their cu$hy jobs and take all they can get for themselves.
I was just reading that GM is closing plants and laying off about 74,000 workers. One of the reasons is because of our trade policies that allow countries to dump their products here, but won't allow our products there.
