At least one 2008 presidential hopeful is bankrolling campaign funds through the use of his own 527 organization. Prowess in raising campaign monies is to a federal candidate's greatest advantage in our corrupt political system, especially if it is shown early on in the race.
Most 527s are advocacy groups that, through Federal Election Commission (FEC) regulation loopholes, influence federal elections through voter mobilization efforts and so-called issue ads that tout or criticize a candidate's record; they can receive funds from any source, including rich individuals, corporations and unions.
However, relatively few common citizens have already legally contributed to 2008 presidential candidates-- indeed, no candidates have official campaign committees to financially contribute to, under the FEC. Vote Out Incumbents for Democracy believes that candidates are to campaign for we, the people-- their voters. Join us as we spread the message that we will vote only for ethical candidates, for it is the incorruptible public servant who soberly addresses the critical issues facing this nation.

This could really get out of hand faster, and worse than I ever envisioned. Especially since incumbents will never voluntarily pass any reforms, and the incumbents always outnumber the newcomers, and then tempt, pressure, or threaten them if they don't accept the status quo.

Why should they pass campaign finance reform? After all they'd be cutting off their noses in spite of their faces. How would special intrest buy them then? After all the intrest of special intrest is more important than the intrest of We The People.

You are right, my friend. And the only way to stop the corruption and restore trust between we, the people and our representatives, is to vote them all out until they get the message.

Yes, reform is unlikely until voters and incumbents understand.
Voters need an education on how to give an education to all of the irresponsible incumbents.
There are some newcomers to congress that need our help; that want to pass badly-needed reforms, but newcomers are always outnumbered by irresponsible incumbents.
Irresponsible incumbents force newcomers to accept the status quo, or be shunned, isolated, and stripped of party support.
What is the peaceful solution ?
Education of the simple solution is what is needed. Vote out all irresponsible incumbents, always, every election. It's not a once-in-a-while duty. Voters are always supposed to vote out irresponsible incumbents.
If we wait too long, we may have to learn the hard way (again).
