I just heard Chris Matthews report on the Scarborough Show on MSNBC, that Rep. Tom DeLay will announce tomorrow that he will not seek reelection in November. The poll numbers no longer give him a 50-50 chance given the trials he will be going through between now and then.
This is a victory for the anti-incumbent sentiment that is growing across the country and being reflected in poll after poll. Some folks here at Vote Out Incumbents for Democracy should be dancing a jig tomorrow, as the organization is all about forcing politicians who put government up for sale to the highest bidder out of office. As a member of that organization, I see this as a small victory for the movement.

David,
Since the bigger they are, the harder they fall, I see the Delay announcement as a much larger victory for the movement. Moreover, the measurable increase in interest and discussion of anti-incumbent voting recently is extremely exciting.

Tom Delay lived up to his name.
He delayed, and delayed, and delayed, until he could delay no more.
But, watch. Even if Delay is convicted (perhaps, even plead guilty like Dan Rostenkowski), he'll probably get a pardon (like the 140 felons pardoned by Clinton).

Frist is upset at critics of pork barrel spending in an article released today. And I am hearing Bob Ney is may have taken the exact same actions which forced DeLay into trouble. I will have to research Ney alegations further though, I don't know if they are just politically motivated or backed by facts.

This is great news for VOID. It's especially great news for the nation. And, it's even greater news for those of you who were "represented" by DeLay! Congratulations!
