WWIII
So, the buzz in the blogosphere is that we're on the brink of WWIII. What do you think? Is another World War breaking out? Will the US get sucked into it? Or, has it already started, and we just don't know it yet?

Hmmmmm.
It's possible.
If Iran and Syria get more involved, and Israel is more threatened, it might happen.
China and Russia may not side with the U.S., and after Iraq, it may be hard to get allies.
North Korea can't get much more brazen.
I don't think it will happen yet, but there's a small chance it could if Israel's neighbors all start to gang up on it in a bigger way.

I don't know. I've pretty much been hearing "WWIII" for my entire life in one form or another, and thus I'm skeptical of anyone who whips it out.
Personally, I think a lot more effort should be going into de-escalating this situation. It seems wrong that people are already forgetting (and it's not even a month old) that this started with Palestine/Hammas signing an acknowledgement of some sort that Israel existed/had a right to exist. That's something that has been pushed as the big "peace" sign and now...
I think the whole situation is still very much salvagable, but the concerned parties need to be properly motivated -- like by having all the allies say "We're not going to help you in this" on both sides. As long as Iran and Syria, and the US and EU dangle out the hope of assistance, they're probably going to continue to fight in the hopes of vanquishing their enemy(ies) once and for all; which rarely ever actually happens. And if the various allies do actually join in (which I'm rather doubting), then I guess that could make it WWIII.
