Will they get your vote?
Andrew Taylor of the Associated Press wrote:
Both Democrats and Republicans insist they emerged as winners from last week's failed GOP effort to cut taxes on multimillion dollar estates and raise the minimum wage.
But the fact is, tax cut legislation isn't due to expire, and therefore, does not require renewal, until 2010. So, why was it introduced into this minimum wage bill? To kill the bill. Pure and simple. The minimum wage is the lowest in purchasing power in 50 years. "5 million hotel maids, dishwashers, fast food and janitorial workers and other minimum wage earners stuck at $5.15 an hour."
Now whether one is for or against the federal government providing a minimum for wages, the notion that Democrats and Republicans accomplished nothing to solve any of our nation's problems with the defeat of this bill, and yet, both have left D.C. for the
month to go back to their districts to claim victory for having defeated the other's attempts, is the story here.
They will succeed too, in convincing many of their constitutents that their vote and their party accomplished something here. And those voters will vote for them in November to return to Congress and accomplish a whole lot more of nothing while our national debt sprials out of control, while Iraq drains more 10's of billions of dollars from border security, while the 1+ billion dollars per day we pay in interest on our debt is diverted from future Soc. Sec. payments promised to people who paid into it their over their entire work lives.
When did accomplishing nothing become a selling point for getting votes? This is how perverted our political system has become, and how confused by the political rhetoric our voters have become, as they reelect an average of 94% of incumbents back into office. Would any country whose elections worked this way have a future to look forward to?

In the spirit of wanting to see two bad incumbants out of political office in Illinois, I am encouraging voters to cast a write-in vote for Randall C. Stufflebeam for Illinois Governor. His campaign web-site is www,runrandyrun.com

Thank you for the information on the Stufflebeam candidacy. I have placed his name and web site on our incumbents and challengers page.
Much appreciated.
