VOID Board of Directors - Meeting Minutes
Via Internet 3-way conferencing
Tuesday, August 8, 2006 7:30PM - 9:00PM

ATTENDEES:
David R. Remer, President
Daniel Summars, Treasurer
Stephanie Crist, Secretary

PURPOSE: To review progress of current projects and to determine ways to advance VOID's mission through coalition-building and increasing activity of supporters.

MEETING SUMMARY:
1. All members of the VOID Board of Directors were in attendance.

2. The Board unanimously adopted the revised Minutes of our previous meeting, on July 9, 2006. The revised Minutes will be posted onto the new public Minutes webpage.

3. David Remer up-dated the Board on the progress he has made in regards to the projects he assumed in order to advance the Mission of VOID. David Remer and Daniel Summars are collaborating to complete and stream-line VOID's supporter database. David Remer proposed the Board consider new ways to reward members for their participation. The Board unanimously agreed, but no particular means was determined to accomplish this goal. David Remer exerted a significant amount of time and personal effort in tracking down the cause for website problems that had been reported, but the problem seemed specific to the settings of the users; text size was responsible for a particular column maladjustment and can be alleviated by adjusting the text size, located under the View heading in Internet Explorer. David Remer highly recommended that VOID move to take advantage of the anti-incumbent notions expressed in Connecticut, concerning the primary race between Senator Lieberman (who, as of the time of this document's formation, did in fact lose Democrat backing for his re-election bid) and Ned Lamont. As soon as it is possible, Daniel Summars will gain access to the VOID server (network?) in order to better monitor VOID activities. Due to lack of participation, David Remer has been asked to monitor the site stats of the webpage for the "What Do You Think" column to determine whether this feature is worth pursuing. Board is considering replacing WDYT with a separate poll once such a feature can be set up on the VOID site. Planning for another Blog Blitz is underway, but a date has not been set. It has been determined that it would be too time-consuming, without sufficient effectiveness, to locate all potential media out-lets VOID supporters can use to pass along information, however it may be possible to locate other sites who have devoted the necessary time for local areas and promote the use of those sites. The Board would also like to encourage members and supporters to offer feedback concerning our efforts and suggestions on how to improve our performance.

4. David Remer noted discrepancies of about $14 between the Treasurer's Report and the actual account balance. Posting of the Treasurer's Report to the member's only secure site, will be delayed until the cause of said discrepancy can be

determined and reconciled.

5. David Remer reported to the Board that VOID's site stats were a bit disappointing. Even more disappointing were the click-throughs and page-views generated by the paid for AdSense program. It has been determined that this method of advertising is not worth VOID's expense and David Remer will discontinue his own funding of this experiment.

6. After researching our options and finding the proper paperwork, David Remer has acquired an application for a sales tax license from Texas's comptroller which will be filed this week. Non-profit status will be sought but it is not clear whether it can be granted to a political PAC.

7. Daniel Summars received positive feedback from his efforts to form connections with the Libertarian party in hopes of forming a third-party coalition that can better challenge the Democrat and Republican incumbents. The Libertarians have formed such coalitions quite successfully in the past and are open to working with VOID in such a capacity, though only initial overtures have been made and nothing has been formalized.

Such a coalition would encourage third-party voters to support a candidate from a party not of their choosing should the seat be one for which their party does not have a candidate running for office. Such a coalition could provide an added boost to anti-incumbent efforts in an otherwise predominantly "one-party" state. The support of some Libertarian Party leaders, being the most successful third-party, will give VOID an added boost when seeking the cooperation of other third parties. The effectiveness of such coalitions has been historically proven, and being a facilitator may provide VOID with much needed media attention.

It is also noted that David Remer may have an opportunity to be included as a speaker for a Texas-based coalition with motives similar to VOID's.

8. The Board is also seeking better ways to expose the records of incumbents' "pork" votes and demonstrate to the public why such spending habits are detrimental to the prosperity of this nation. This led to a discussion on voter education and a determination that VOID must broaden our efforts in this area. One of the ways we will try to do this is by enhancing the VOID newsletter by including a link to voter education information. As well as seeking volunteers to put together a Voter Education packet that VOID can then distribute, an effort that will be overseen by Stephanie Crist once volunteers can be recruited for this effort. We will also seek to enhance the VOID newsletter by reporting one item of "pork" in every newsletter. We strongly encourage members and supporters to offer feedback and suggestions concerning the VOID newsletter.

9. David Remer motioned to adjourn until our next meeting on Monday, September 4, 2006. A time has yet to be determined. The Board passed this motion unanimously.

NEXT STEPS:
Meeting Schedule: Monday, September 4, 2006.
