Take My Freedom, Just Give me Security.

Our leaders feel guilty for allowing 9/11 to happen. Our leaders feel unworthy of the roles they hold in our government. Our leaders confused by these feelings of guilt and unworthiness, are grasping to make it better.

But they are doing so without reference or consultation with our forefathers, who knew the world is a dangerous place. And it takes a brave and courageous people to choose to live free in it. Freedom carries risk. Freedom or security. You know what the safest place in the United States is? Solitary confinement in a maximum security prison. Not even terrorists have designs on such a place.

"Give me liberty or, give me death". It takes a brave people to live by those words. Where have all our brave citizens gone in these days of confusion and guilt and remorse? Do we honor our soldiers because we can find nothing left in ourselves to honor? They risk their lives in the hopes of returning to a free America, a brave America, and proud America that will not serve up its freedoms and liberties and Constitution for an illusion of security.

Are we going to let them down behind their backs, yielding up freedoms and individual liberties to those who would take them? Or, will we safeguard individual freedom and liberty for their return, against those inside our government and outside our borders, who would steal them from us in the name of fear and concentrated political power?

Which is it going to be America?
1) "Take my freedoms, just give me security".
2) "Give me liberty, or give me death."

When our troops return, which choice will they find America made behind their backs in these trying times?

The hypocrisy ! ? ! ? ! ?

  • Wire-tapping and spying on U.S. citizens, while our borders are wide-open;
  • not vetoing massive pork-barrel, graft, corporate welfrare, and waste while our troops go without body armor and adequate medical care;
  • the blunder (or lies?) about Weapons of Mass Destruction; trusting only the intelligence gathered by Vice President Cheney's and Secretary Rumsfeld's "Office of Special Plans";
  • the many blunders that followed and still, to our horror, are unfolding;
  • alienation of our allies, and the decisions to go-it-alone.
  • unsecured coastal ports; wait until terrorists get WMD ... there will be nothing to stop them;
  • the refusal to enforce the law to stop illegal immigration (because irresponsible incumbent politicians want votes and cheap labor; an under-paid, under-class to exploit; security be damned; wire-tapping is more important); anyone who thinks illegal immigrants pose no harm to U.S. citizens, they need to look at this
  • pretending Al Qaeda could not attack without state sponsors, and ignoring evidence of a growing threat unassociated with "rogue states" like Iraq or North Korea;
  • Not feeling a sense of urgency about terrorism or al Qaeda before 9/11 ;
  • Bush signed a report endorsing outsourcing with thousands of American workers having their jobs shipped overseas;
  • growing debt, borrowing, spending, and the government to nightmare proportions; what ever happened to the goal of "smaller government"?
  • . . . more . . .
  • . . . more . . .

The hypocrisy is staggering. Corruption within government is growing, and so is the size of government. There are now more jobs in government than all manufacturing jobs within the U.S. Government is growing increasingly oppressive. There are now 6 cases per day of eminent domain abuse (upheld by the Supreme Court). The laws have been perverted to do the very thing they were supposed to prevent. Politicians are above the law. Even if ever indicted and convicted, they can get pardons. We are on the wrong path, and the U.S. is not invincible. Empires, republics, and nations have lasted centuries longer than the U.S. The further we go down the wrong path, the harder it will be to return to the right path (if ever). The path we're on is not making us safer. George Bush, himself (his very own words) called the "war on terror" a "crusade", and claims that Iraq is the "front on the war on terror". Bush says that we found WMD in Iraq, but we did NOT. He is either lying or delusional. There have been no WMD of any significance found in Iraq, and no forensic traces that it was moved elsewhere. Trying to limit the civil war in Iraq is not making the U.S. safer, and it is an irresponsible misuse of American troops. Attacking Iraq did not make the U.S. safer. Bush's "crusade" is ripping the nation apart, and paving the way for government to grab more power and grow increasingly oppressive.

Slumbering voters had better wake up now and do the one-simple, common-sense, non-partisan, responsible thing that voters were supposed to do be doing all along. Stop re-electing irresponsible incumbent politicians. The lives of our U.S. troops lives depend on it, literally. The future and security of the nation does not hinge on Iraq. The danger is from within. The real problem is our own corrupt, irresponsible, FOR-SALE, bought-and-paid-for, arrogant incumbent politicians, and slumbering voters that empower them. Would voters do this if they really understood the long-term consequences? Or, must they always learn the hard way (again)?

I want you to LISTEN!!! I am a Vet Nam Vet! I am sick to death of the BULLSHIT I see going on by the ONE who is supposed to PROTECT us! What the hell is going on with the ones who are to put a MAD MAN in CHECK???? GET IT TOGATHER AMERICA!!! Before it is TO LATE!!!!! I love my Country, and I fought for it in 1969. I served with the 173rd Airborne Brigade, an ELITE Unit that fought it's ass off over there, just to come back to a President who wants to support Illeagals who deserve jail time, but wants to give them OUR Social Security. What is UP with THAT?????Pray tell!!!!
