More incumbents in trouble
Anti-incumbent fever, aimed mostly at Republicans, seems to be continuing to gain momentum. If Republican incumbents in Kentucky are in trouble, then perhaps no incumbent Republican is safe. According to
a WHAS-TV-sponsored SurveyUSA poll Democratic challenger John Yarmuth has edged ahead of incumbent Republican Anne Northup.

Hopefully, voters will do the job right, but blind party loyalty is tough to overcome.
It seems voters may re-elect a lot of Democrat incumbents, which will NOT solve much of anything.
Grid-lock is the probable outcome. By 2008, our pressing problems will have grown in number and severity. Maybe, then, voters will start to stop re-electing irresponsible incumbents.
However, it could take longer. In a voting nation, an educated electorate it paramount.
The voters mostly likely eventually get educated eventually, but will it be the smart way, or the hard, painful way?
The longer voters fail to be responsible too, the worse it will be for themselves later. Unfortunately, they can't see that far ahead yet, and by the time they do, it may be too late.

Great comment, d.a.n. We have to stop reading each other's blogs...we're sounding a lot alike. LOL

Perhaps.
But it is encouraging to see more voters deciding to not vote straight-ticket this year.
My wife, son, myself, mother, father, several friends and neighbors, and some relatives (once, all long-time Republicans; I was a Republican for 30 years; up until about 2 years ago) already voted early and voted for non-incumbents, and the others are vowing to do the same tomorrow (7-NOV-2006).
Democrats will gain seats, and we will have grid-lock for a few years. That hopefully will help educate more voters to simply stop re-electing those very same irresponsible incumbents politicians. The system is somewhat self-correcting. The pain and misery that voters bring upon themselves will eventually give them the motivation to start doing their part to make government more responsible too!
The only danger is that voters never succeed, and the decline of the nation continues. It's not impossible. All we can do is keep trying to educate voters to do what is needed sooner than later, when it will be more painful.
