Court Reprimands Ohio Gov.

The NY Times reports that departing Ohio Gov. Bob Taft (R) received the minimum punishment on Wednesday for failing to report nearly $6,000 worth of golf outings and other gifts, a coda

to his scandal-plagued final term in office, which ends Jan. 8.

"Public reprimand was the minimum penalty that could have been imposed by the court, which had the discretion to suspend Mr. Taft's law license in Ohio or to bar him permanently from practicing law in the state."

The disappointing leniency with which the government polices and punishes its own is one of the major reasons the citizenry should take notice. It is a tenant of our establishment that justice should be equal; and this scenario represents an increasing inequal justice system that puts politicians and their co-horts in a superior position over those whom they are supposed to serve. Instead of being held to the standards of practice that we are, they are repeatedly allowed to flout the law with little to no consequence, thus reinforcing their notions of their own entitlements to a disproportional "first pick" of this nation's resources at the expense of the nation itself and all it's people.

It is happening as we speak, Stephanie, and not just in the USA but, through globalization, the peoples of all modern nations are being duped into supporting the global oligarchy of corporations working in concert with each other to limit choice, and force choice, and overpower the voice and will of the people who cry out for peace, prosperity, security, and freedom.

It's scary the way corruption spreads. Not to long ago I wrote an essay that called corruption an epidemic; by professor docked me points for the word choice, and yet I still feel that it's the most appropriate choice.

The way political and corporate "top dogs" influence each other and validate their own perceptions of their superior value, reinforcing and spreading these notions of entitlement...it seems to me like an epidemic on a global scale.
