2007 - Readying for 2008

Dear VOID supporter, we hope your holidays were enjoyable and thank you again for your support in 2006.

The Board met at the end of January and among other things, we reevaluated our membership fee structure. We are pleased to announce that individuals may now become voting members of Vote Out Incumbents Democracy for $15, and family membership is now only $25.

We extend our deepest appreciation to last year's members for providing us with working funds to accomplish our mutual goal, a more responsible government. We hope that far more supporters will continue to assist us by becoming members at the new lower rates. Also, we trust our current and previous members will appreciate renewing their membership at the substantially lower rates. If you have not yet become a member, please click here to make your support of VOID official.

It is important that VOID expand its membership and increase its funds to kick off the 2008 awareness campaign in a huge way, because the issues our Congress aren't addressing are of huge consequence. Our objective is to move voters to vote for challengers to irresponsible and incompetent incumbents in our nation's Congress. There are many of our representatives who still insist on keeping our borders wide open to millions of illegal aliens and, to enemies of our nation's people. Homeland Security is a farce if we can't get a Congress that will take securing our borders as seriously as we the people do. The National Intelligence Estimate states terrorists are crossing our open borders. There is no excuse for this.

I just learned that America maintains 732 military bases and stations outside the U.S., and that approximately 40% of our military and defense budget is black-holed; meaning you and I as citizens may not know how that money is being spent, who is receiving it, or where in the world it is going. We need a strong national defense system. However, every taxpayer dollar spent unwisely, wrongly, and irresponsibly is a dollar not spent on actually defending America.

There are 10's of billions of dollars spent on hidden defense projects, which are obsolete before they are even completed, spent on no-bid highly inflated contracts, and in policies like handing out billions to Iraqis, many of whom came back armed to fight and kill our soldiers. These dollars spent do not strengthen our defense. These tax dollars wasted actually weaken our nation and our taxpayers.

Too many of our politicians work for the profit oriented military industrial complex which President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned future Americans about. These are our dollars. We have a Constitutional right to demand Congress stop wasting and profiting from our taxes by voting them out of office, which in turn, becomes a mandate to those who replace them to act on our behalf.

November's election in 2006 was a wake up call. VOID was instrumental in heralding that call throughout the internet and on car windows and bumpers, to millions of readers through the efforts of our volunteers, membership, and Board of Directors. While millions of voters heard the Vote Out Incumbents message, hundreds of our representatives are still not listening to the voters.

Many Democrat politicians recognize the voters made a statement, however they still refuse to get serious about border security and our illegal immigration problem. Many Republican politicians are smarting over their losses in Congress, yet still refuse to rein in the costs of both our soldier's lives and tax dollars on this major Iraq malfunction and wasteful defense spending. The IRS this year will fail to collect 350 billion dollars owed from cheating corporations, small businesses, and individual taxpayers.

A Cato Institute spokesperson this week advised Congress that raising taxes only results in greater incentive for those who can, to evade paying taxes, and argued that enforcement of tax collections is not the problem, but tax rates themselves are the problem. These are the people our politicians are listening to. We must force them to listen to us who are paying the taxes, not those who are dodging them and funding the Cato Institute to speak for them.

Too many of our politicians are choosing to follow the tens of thousands of lobbyists, whose job it is to steal their share of our tax dollars. It falls to us voters and volunteers at Vote Out Incumbents Democracy to insure they listen and respond appropriately to voters who demand better from them for our vote and our hard earned tax dollars.

We have enjoyed our rest from the close of November's election through the holidays and January. But, it is now time for us to go back to work as volunteers to the greatest of all causes in America: responsible and accountable representatives who hold in their hands, the future of our senior years and our children's lives and quality of life. Let us all do our part to insure Congress does theirs. It will not happen without your support and commitment. Please become a donating member of VOID today for $15 or $25, and help us prepare to launch our 2008 campaign to make an even bigger difference in 2008' s elections.

Voting out irresponsible and incompetent incumbents is the only way America can return to being a responsible democratic republic of, by, and FOR ALL of the American people. What is America without her people?

Sincerely,

Your VOID Board of Directors,
Daniel Summars
