Economy on collision course.

August 23, 2007 8:39 PM

CBO (Congressional Budget Office) reports today on C-Span: For the last 2 decades, the health care differential PER YEAR has averaged 2%. This means that health care and insurance premium costs have grown by 2% more than wage growth, PER YEAR, for the last 20 years.

Their spokesman, Peter Orszag, CBO Budget Director, went on to report that if health care costs continue to increase at this rate for the next 4 decades (the baby boom retirement and mortality years), health care costs will go from the current 4.5% of GDP to 20% of GDP (Gross Domestic Product, which is the total annual economic activity for America).

America CLEARLY cannot afford the health care system it currently has. The current system WILL bankrupt Americans and America.

ANYONE who says the economy is sound, is uninformed, a liar, or a fool, in light of this information. Obvious, is the need to move toward a non-profit health care system, which can reduce that growth in the health care cost differential from wages. Many health care facilities in America operate on a non-profit basis, like St. Judes Children's Hospital or, a number of University Land Grant Hospitals. Some argue that medical research and development (R&D) would suffer from a non-profit system. St. Jude's Research Center stands in direct contradiction to that claim as a cutting edge research center in children's health care technology.

But, alone, a non-profit system is not enough to prevent the system from consuming 10 to 12% more of GDP over the next 40 years.

Add to this the Social Security crisis, our enormous military, and foreign aid spending, it is clear there is a freight train barreling down the tracks at increasing speed on a collision course with our economy.

Democrats and Republicans are not up to voluntarily addressing how to brake that freight train in time to avoid disastrous consequences. It is up to the American voters to FORCE politicians into bi-partisan problem solving mode. The only viable way to do this is by removing them from office, again and again, UNTIL their replacements get the hint!

THE HINT: Solve IT, or be a one term politician of no consequence.

It will work. Commit to voting out your incumbent representatives who don't earnestly put partisanship aside and address this calamity coming. Vote for challengers to your incumbents in the upcoming Primaries. Republicans DO NOT Need to vote for Democrats. Nor, do Democrats need to vote for Republicans. You can vote for a challenger to your incumbent in your party's Primary election.

The opportunity to vote out your incumbent is precisely why our free election system was set up. You don't have to vote to keep an incumbent in office. Incumbents have had 100 years to rig the system so they will remain in power if you Don'T vote. The purpose of the vote established by our Founding Fathers was precisely to remove politicians corrupted by their offices of power. No dictatorship in the world requires a vote to remain in office.

In our country, the right to vote politicians out of office has been struggled and fought for by millions of Americans, women, 18-21 year olds, and by people of color in America. Great sacrifices were made to insure YOU have the right to vote politicians out of office and vote for uncorrupted replacements into office. Honor those sacrifices made over the last 150 years. VOTE IN YOUR PRIMARY ELECTION. The Primary elections afford you the opportunity to replace an incumbent with a new politician from your preferred party.

Please, please, take full advantage of this opportunity. Find out when and where your Primary voting will take place and make room in your schedule to vote. Primary voters are far, far fewer than in the general election, so waiting lines and traffic are not the problem many experience on the general election day.

Commit to donating to VOID as much, and as often, as you can afford to. These donations will pay for the costs of reaching more and more Americans with the VOID message and simple solution to corrupt partisan government.

Agreeing with VOID is not enough. We all must find our own ways to spread VOID's message of hope and solution. We all can find ways to persuade others to vote. We all can find ways to persuade others to carry the VOID concept ever wider amongst American voters. We all can find a few extra dollars to support VOID's outreach costs.

Just agreeing with VOID will not get the job done. Time is not on America's side on these issues. VOID's members and supporters can succeed to turn things around with your and my generous, creative, and continuous support. Become a member. Order your Vote Out Incumbents Democracy window/bumper sticker, and display it proudly. Let everyone know where we stand.

And equally important, talk to others about your VOID organization's path to setting America back on a sound footing. We are all in this together as Americans. We must support each other's efforts to save our nation and our children's futures, or suffer together, the failure to get the job done. I choose success over failure. I know you do to. Let's make it happen.

The Federal Reserve just created another $200 Billion (a.k.a. liquidity) out of thin air.

It is a short-term solution that will make the long-term problem worse . . . sort of like trying to put out a fire by throughing gasoline on it . . . that is, if we have any gasoline (with Oil now at $110 per barrel).

An economic meltdown is not far fetched as long as these abuses are allowed to continue, and voters continue to repeatedly reward irresponsible incumbent politicians with 93%-to-99% re-election rates.
