Election Day

Hello fellow Kentuckians.
Today is one of the most important days for the Commonwealth. Today, we as Kentuckians have the power to get rid of corruption and gross miss-use of office powers. Our beloved Commonwealth is being used and abused by those in our government offices and today is the day we can go out and make our voices heard.
We have a chance to send a message to our government that we are no longer going to sit back and take idly the fact we are no longer being fairly represented by our elected officials.
How can we do that? We can start by voting out our current elected officials. We can let them know how unhappy we are with how they are running our Commonwealth by hitting them where it hurts, the ballots. The good, the bad, and the corrupt must all be voted out of office in order for our message to be understood. We no longer want to deal with the politics of politics. We want people in office who will care about their constituents and about the Commonwealth of Kentucky not just about how to further their career or line their own pockets. Good, honest, hardworking, law abiding citizens for the common good of the commonwealth are who we need in office.

Dead Heat for 4th Cong. District

Incumbent Geoff Davis (R), the US Congress representative for Kentucky's 4th District is teetering with his democratic rival, Ken Lucas. Latest poll has Davis ahead of Lucas by 2 percent, and the polling sample error margin is plus or minus 4.6%. For all intents and purposes this race is dead even.

Are you voting for the incumbent, or the challenger? Let us know why, if you would please. With Congress so mired in corruption, ineffectiveness, party warfare, and neck deep in more money than ever in the history of our nation, we fail to understand why any voters would vote to return the politicians to office responsible for this corrupt and ineffective government.

Please, we would like to hear your thoughts.

Who and What is Kentucky VOID

Kentucky Vote Out Incumbents Democracy (VOID)

As of this writing, Oct. 2, 2006, Kentucky VOID is just getting organized. We are developing our web site as our base of operations for carrying out the VOID Mission in our state.

Our goal and mission are the same as the national Vote Out Incumbents Democracy organization's, but targeted toward U.S. Congress representatives from Kentucky, specifically.

Since we are a newly formed local chapter of VOID, our primary target election for voting out incumbents in Kentucky will be the 2008 races for U.S. Congress. We must start organizing now to maximize a significant impact 2008's Congressional races. Of course, we are trying to reach as many as possible with this web site for the 2006 elections as well. With the anti-incumbent support growing across the nation, the volunteers and supporters of Vote Out Incumbents Democracy have every expectation of being able to wield some significant clout in the 2008 elections, affecting outcomes of some key district races.

VOID's goal is to reduce the national reelection rate in 2008 by at least 20%. A reduction of incumbent reelections by 20% is what will be required to achieve state, local, and national media coverage of our effect and to put remaining incumbents on notice, that they may be next to lose if positive changes in politics and governance are not achieved.

The VOID Directors and Kentucky VOID volunteers, can only guide and point the way. It is up to you, the American voters, to insure the success of VOID's mission with contributions, memberships, and volunteer hours. Kentucky VOID will help supply the support base and funding to:

1) buy advertising in key election districts in 2008.
2) to vote in challengers and vote out incumbents in sufficient numbers to generate national media attention to the Vote Out Incumbents movement and need for reforms and clean-up.
3) to generate the support base who will contact our representatives when Kentucky VOID puts out a 'call to action' notice, which will compel action by our representatives for needed reforms in areas like ending deficits, election reform, campaign finance reform, securing our nation, and protecting and defending our American freedoms and liberties laid out in our Constitution.

We know positive changes in American politics and governance will not take place in one election cycle. We know such changes will require a growing anti-incumbent movement over several election cycles as far out as 2014 perhaps, to bring about the goals of forcing politicians to heed the needs of the nation and her citizen's first, before the needs of wealthy campaign donors, special interest lobbyists, personal and party greed. Therefore, as long as the annual numbers of supporters for VOID continues to grow, our organization will continue to work and aid voters in restoring American politics and governance to what it should it have been all along.

History.

Kentucky VOID has no history yet, other than to launch this web site and begin gathering Hoosier State supporters. You can however view the history of the national VOID organization by clicking here.

Other Notes about VOID.

VOID and its state and local chapters accept no sponsorship from any political party or candidates. VOID does not advocate for any political party. VOID's efforts and hopes partially rest on motivating the almost 50% of eligible voters who don't vote, to register and vote as well as convincing registered voters of the merits of the Vote Out Incumbents goal and mission.

Staff and guest writer editorials are the opinions of their authors and do not necessarily reflect the goals, motives, or, intentions of the VOID organization. Comments to articles on Kentucky VOID's web site in no way represent the views, or beliefs of the VOID organization or, its staff.
